RE/MAX Alliance Agent Merry Whyman Receives A Community Citizen Service Award!

The Enterprise Grange #25 in Arvada recently awarded the Community Citizen Service Award to RE/MAX Alliance agent Merry Whyman. Merry is with the RE/MAX Alliance office in the Westminster/Broomfield area.

“I’m honored for the recognition and for receiving this wonderful award,” Merry said. “It was a very nice ceremony and presentation at the annual Community Service Night which was held on April 13th.”

Merry has been active in the real estate industry for twenty-eight years. She has spent the last eighteen years with RE/MAX Alliance. She credits her longevity to her passion for the business and the personal fulfillment she gets from helping families and individuals find the right home.

Merry believes it’s important to give back professionally and personally. She has served as a Director of the Jefferson County Association of Realtors (JCAR) for the past six years. She has also served as the JCAR representative of CARHOF for the past six years. She is head of the Community Service Team for JCAR, directing two fundraisers every year for the past eight years. Each year a spaghetti luncheon is held to fund a holiday party for local seniors that reside in a subsidized housing community. “The fundraisers are lots of fun to put together,” she said. “A brunch is provided to all the seniors. They receive a gift and homemade goodies; great singing and eating are had by all.”

In the community, Merry stays involved as a member of the Arvada Covenant Church, where she serves on the Children’s Committee and the Women’s Ministry Team. She has cooked and coordinated the annual Advent Brunch for over 200 women every December for the past fourteen years. Merry is also a participant in large auction fundraising dinners for such organizations as Hope House, which reaches out to unwed teenage mothers by giving them a place to live and learn in a safe environment.

When asked what her favorite place to serve is, Merry pointed out the Royal Family Kid’s Camp. This organization gives children in Jefferson County Foster Care the opportunity to enjoy a week of events at a camp in Estes Park. “The fundraising for this is very challenging as it takes almost $50,000 each year to allow these children to attend,” Merry said. For the past nine years Merry has coordinated the welcome home dinner for approximately 140 adult volunteers as they come together for a meal and share the week’s experiences.
